Water positive status is conferred upon a manufacturing location only when the amount of water withdrawn for industrial usage is less than the amount of water given back to society and nature. We at L&T have always recognized water stewardship as a key driver for a sustainable business, and have constructed water harvesting structures and water treatment and recycling facilities across our campuses in India.

In the week from July 1 to July 7, 2017, L&Teers planted 36326 saplings across the state of Maharashtra. L&T’s Tree Plantation Drive is an ongoing response to the substantial climate change and sustainability challenges, like water supply and biodiversity loss. Through proactive advocacy by environmentally conscious employees, Ladies clubs (consisting of spouses of employees and women employees) and NGO partners, this drive catalysed tree planting action in 10 major districts of Maharashtra.

Providing training in 3 major areas - masonry, bar-bending and formwork - the Construction Skills Training Centre, established in Village Saathmohini, Dist. Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, is helping the local population get access to world class, certified construction skill training facilities which qualify them for employment.

With the launch of a community based integrated project in Pathardi Tehsil of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra, L&T is partnering with vulnerable communities to address key themes of water and sanitation, education, health and skill building that are critical for development.
